Tennessee Nursing and Healthcare Schools
Tennessee is experiencing nursing shortage just like any other State in the United States of America. What is more important though, is that the State has been able to pinpoint the main cause of the nursing shortage which is attributed to shortage of faculty. The only way that the State of Tennessee can be able to manage and offset this threatening shortage of nurses is by increasing faculty and increasing the building capacity.
It is a fact that Tennessee's stability and quality of health care fully rely on a sufficient supply of competent and appropriately educated skilled healthcare providers. The looming nursing shortage has affected the general care and safety of patients alongside the health care costs and the general outcomes of patients. That is the main reason why the State has joined hands with others in the health care industry to find long lasting solutions to this looming danger.
First and foremost, the State is working towards boosting enrollments in institutions of learning. This it does by:
- Creating awareness by advertising about nursing academic programs and the rewards one would gain from a nursing career.
- Aiming at targeting non-traditional and underrepresented groups of young people by using stratagems such as partnerships with universities, colleges and high schools whose large population is minority students.
- Improving opportunities for distance learning.
- Improving the capacity in existing institutions through partnership with local schools to expand both the enrollment field and faculty.
On the same note, the State of Tennessee is working towards building a capacity through partnerships which will increase the educational capacity. This will be a success by enhancing the amount of opportunities for clinical placement, promoting a culture for retention by implementing strategies that foster a positive working environment for nurses, improving online clinical orientation process and finally increasing the supply of qualified personnel in institutions.
Imperative to note, the State of Tennessee is working towards a salary scale that will be determined by experience and level of education and not determined by working location like witnessed in cases where graduate students could earn up to $65,000 annually while their teachers earn a mere $50,000 annually. By and large, you expect to find the following salaries in the State of Tennessee.
- Head RN $60,000-70,000
- Staff RN $60,000-69,000
- Lab Tech $38,000-43,000
- Radiology Tech $48,000-53,000
- LPN $38,000-43,000
- Emergency Room $59,000-64,000
