Over the next 13 years alone, by 2020 it is estimated nationally that an additional 434,000 Registered Nurses and 136,000 LPNs will be needed to accommodate for the health care needs of our Country. Temporary agencies are often used to fill vacant positions and often patients have to be sent elsewhere to receive proper care. These shortages affect the care that facilities can provide. Without an adequate amount of health care workers, people don't get the care they need and deserve. The cost of using a temp service is 5% higher than paying a full time employee. 26.8 million dollars is spent on recruiting efforts for health care workers. These extra costs cause for higher health care costs. This is a problem being addressed in the health care industry. Missouri is 87% Caucasian, but is increasing its population of ethic diversity.
