Missouri Nursing and Healthcare Schools
If you're looking for a challenging career in High Demand, Missouri welcomes you to become a part of their health care team. Missouri has numerous organizations working together to recruit and retain people who care to work in the health care industry. There currently are shortages in health care professionals in vast numbers in Missouri. There is a great need for Nurses, Medical technicians, Pharmacists, and other personnel. These vacancies severely restrict the availability of quality health care services.
Missouri is currently facing issues of a growing elderly population. The baby boomers born in the 1960's are now reaching retirement ages. A great deal of these elderly found work in the health care industry. Many now will be leaving their jobs to embark on their golden years. This leaves many positions in health care vacant. Qualified applicants will need to take over these great responsibilities. As well, these elderly will also be in need of great health care services, much like the devoted health care services they provided to the communities of Missouri before their retirement. These retired workers along with Missouri's other elderly citizens will need prolonged care. There are many chronic illnesses and diseases that face the elderly. The state of Missouri wants to make sure the elderly are adequately cared for. Whether it is long term care, home health care, rehabilitation, or hospitalization, whatever their need, Missouri's health care workers must provide them with the best care possible. To days Technology enables people to live longer. The ability to manage long term care and treat chronic diseases is something we must provide to the seniors of Missouri. It is estimated by 2015 one half of all current Registered nurses will reach retirement age. LPN's are not far behind and Missouri is already feeling the impact of this.
Missouri is finding that there is just not enough youth entering into the health care fields. Not enough students are enrolled in Nursing Education classes to fill these vacancies. RN vacancy rates are at 15.7 % LPN vacancy rates are reaching 13.5%. Emergency care services are being dramatically affected by these losses of Health care workers. Home Health care is at its greatest demand. Other areas being dramatically affected by these workforce shortages are Surgery, Recovery Room and Intensive care therapists. The demand for nursing services among all types of health care providers continues to increase. Over the next 13 years alone, by 2020 it is estimated nationally that an additional 434,000 Registered Nurses and 136,000 LPNs will be needed to accommodate for the health care needs of our Country.
As expectations to improve quality of life and health outcomes increase Missouri is continually looking for devoted health care givers to join our team and keep working towards healthy communities and healthy families. Hospitals throughout Missouri are experiencing a surge in demand for their health care services. Therefore the demand for Health care professionals is continually increasing dramatically.
The demand for professional health care workers is great. Hospitals and other facilities simply cannot operate their services without qualified persons to administer them. Temporary agencies are often used to fill vacant positions and often patients have to be sent elsewhere to receive proper care. These shortages affect the care that facilities can provide. Without an adequate amount of health care workers, people don't get the care they need and deserve. The cost of using a temp service is 5% higher than paying a full time employee. 26.8 million dollars is spent on recruiting efforts for health care workers. These extra costs cause for higher health care costs. This is a problem being addressed in the health care industry.
Missouri is 87% Caucasian, but is increasing its population of ethic diversity. Training and education will enhance medical treatments to the population in Missouri and will provide rewarding and secure employment opportunities that lead to a successful career in the health care industry.
Scholarships for Health professionals, Loan repayment programs, and a number of other programs are available to assist with financial services. Marketing health careers through programs called resource partners.
