Becoming a Medical Assistant can be a very rewarding career. By completing a course in Medical Assisting, you will be opening many new doors for yourself. Frequently Medical Assistants are employed in the private sector of health care, usually in the office of a family practitioner or group clinic. However, Medical Assistants can be found working in such places as sports facilities, hospitals and nursing homes, labs, radiology departments, and numerous other venues. Duties of a Medical Assistant may include appointment scheduling, patient reception, assisting during examinations, explaining treatment procedures to patients, removing sutures, preparing patients for treatment, and much more. A Medical Assistant must have strong people skills, be dependable, have good communication abilities, and be willing to learn a wide variety of skills. Many times, the skills of a Medical Assistant are learned during on the job training, and a Medical Assistant must be capable of learning new and challenging skills on a day to day basis. Medical Assisting is expected to be the 7th fastest growing profession in the health care field. Because of this huge growth, demand is expected to grow, and along with that demand, income potential will also grow. Starting a career as a Medical Assistant now, not only allows you to enter the health care field faster than many other professions, but it also will get you in on the "Ground floor" of the expected high demand that is quickly increasing.
