This program assists qualified Registered Nurses, who may be interested in obtaining teaching credentials, to receive efficient training and teach in Maryland's Nursing Schools. Currently there are not enough professional health care instructors to train new and upcoming students who wish to work in the health care industry. Teach for the health of it is hoping to recruit more Registered Nurses by paying them to teach and share their health care skills with current and future nursing students. This scholarship program also provides the funding for students who are pursuing a nursing degree, to complete their education. This is a great opportunity and will pave the way for an increased amount of students to graduate into the health care field. Rising AboveThe other $700,000 out of the 1.5 million dollar fund awarded to Maryland is available to the employers of the health care facilities. This money is then used by the employer to advance their medical staff by upgrading the skills of their current employees. Yes! Your boss pays you to advance in your position! By providing specialized training to current employees, employers are able to promote workers from within the facility. These health care workers then proceed to new skilled, advanced, professional positions that are desperately needing to be filled by qualified applicants. This particular program focuses more on transferable skills, certifications and other credentials within the industry taught for the purpose of advancing and promoting the employees to a higher skilled position. In turn it also provides additional opportunities for those just beginning their careers to fill the vacancies of those who have advanced by using this program.
