Georgia welcomes your training and skills and is ready to assist you in getting off to a great start. A new metering program has been started in Georgia=s health care facilities to help graduating students that are ready to put their skills to work. This program is intended to assist new nurses and other new health care workers in being able to make a smooth transition from a school environment into a now working environment. This is a great opportunity for those just entering the health care industry.
Georgia is not only interested in filling the many health care positions that are open now, but are very supportive of your long term career goals. Their goal is to retain their new health care workers throughout the future. This will ensure that Georgia will have the appropriate amount of staff to care for their population, in turn it provides great job security to those who choose to join their staff. Georgia also offers great advancement opportunities for their health care professionals. The have implemented another program known as the Bridge Training Program. This program allows health care workers to advance in their positions by continuing their education. By providing support and reimbursement for educational costs CNA's can advance to LPN's - LPN's can advance to RN's and so forth, all while continuing to work in their current positions!
Another means of support for Georgia's health care workers is a program in progress called Workplace of Excellence. This is a program initiated to identify issues that are important to health care workers, to ensure a happy healthy work environment for their employees. By identifying the needs of the health care professionals, Georgia works to provide solutions in keeping their health care workers satisfied with their work environment.
The Demand for Healthcare Employees
The demand for health care professionals in Georgia is due mainly to the fact that the majority of current employees are reaching retirement age. This along with the fact that Georgia's population is estimated to increase by 150,000 persons per year. Georgia already has a large population of residents over the age of 65, and the majority of the increase will also consist of mostly those who are age 65 and over. This causes an even higher demand for health care providers. Georgia's elderly will need the proper amount of care takers to ensure their health care needs are met.
The Georgia Department of Labor reports that in the next three years 11,110 Registered Nurses will be needed to replace those who have retired, become disabled or have left the profession. In addition, they report that another 19,880 Registered Nurses will be needed just to meet the growing demands. As well there are already a considerable amount of vacancies in many health care positions in all regions of Georgia to date. There has also been an increase in chronic disease and other illnesses as well as more complex treatments and advanced technologies.
The greatest need continues to be for Registered Nurses in the Medical Surgical field, as well as Critical Care Units and Emergency Rooms.
