Shock and Trauma Continuing Education for EMS and Fire Services

VASOGENIC SHOCK: Lost Connections and Overwhelming Infection

Students passing this course will be able to successfully identify and know the differences of neurogenic and septic shock by learning the signs and symptoms associated with them. Students will be able to recognize the various stages of shock, and will know the effects of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system during these types of shock. By using a scenario based approach, students will prove that they can successfully assess and treat vasogenic shock.

EnrollAfter completing the course with at least a 70% passing grade, students will be given a certificate of completion and 2 hours of continuing education.


Traumatic Brain Injury

Upon successful completion of this course, students will have a good understanding of the pathophysiology of trauma to the brain that results in injury. By teaching students the physiology of such things as whiplash, concussion, and posttraumatic amnesia, students will be able to properly assess and treat patients suffering from traumatic brain injuries. Patient assessment skills such as the Glasgow Coma Score and identification of injuries to the different lobes of the brain will be discussed.

EnrollA 70% grade is required for passing and students will be granted 2 hours of CEC credits and be given a certificate of completion.
