If you have a desire to promote quality cost-effective health care and enjoy working in a human services environment, then Case Management is right for you.
Students enrolled in the Case Management Nursing program online will be trained in performing assessments, conducting research, analyzing data, planning and managing services and care. A BSN degree will allow employment in various care institutions such as acute and long term care facilities, workers compensation carriers, managed care organizations, and human service agencies.
A Case Management Nurse is defined by three important functions; utilization review manager, quality management, and discharge planner. These jobs can be combined or performed by different individuals depending on the size and stature of the agency or medical facility.
Case Managers act as an advocate for the client. It is the Case Manager’s responsibility to monitor the client and the services performed by the staff. This way, physicians and family members of the client are well informed and are always given the latest facts pertaining to the client. This is important because it defines the level of supervision and the degree of care given to each individual patient.
