Community health aids and practitioners, also known as CHA/P is a distinctive program of dedicated, qualified individuals who work to provide health care to those who live in these rural areas. The CHA/P is an important rural Alaskan profession of trained health care providers who work under the supervision of a referral physician.
Nurse Practitioners work independently in consultation with physicians , and can provide direct patient care, medical services, diagnose illnesses, recommend procedures and prescribe prescription medications. Physician assistants do not work independently as they must work under a Doctor or Registered Nurse.
Various levels of education and training are required to meet and fill these many positions. Alaska=s Health care Industry will continue to generate job opportunities.
